A Good Old Natter…and a Fishtail Plait

So today I thought I would just catch you all up on what has been happening in my life recently!

It’s half term here so I’ve been enjoying a week of chilling out with a little bit of college work thrown in. Annoying though I haven’t written much on my novel, I’m stuck in a bit of a rut with it.

Today I went into town, handed in two CV’s and also took a look round the Museum Of Somerset too, which was fun!

I had a great day with my friend earlier in the week, we watched two films, one scary one and then one happy/funny one to combat the scary one! Then we got into a mean game of Monopoly until nine o’clock at night! Who doesn’t love Monopoly?!

Also who likes my hair today?

A bit of Boho!
A bit of Boho!

Fishtail plait, took me ages to get right!

Anyway, I’m going to stop rambling on, I will do a longer post soon, love ya!

College to Uni

The thought of leaving college and going to University literally scares the living daylights out of me. However I know that I’m not the only one that has reservations about the whole leaving home and moving forward idea.

I am currently planning on going to University to do Criminal Psychology, but I’m having a number of worries about the whole thing! I’m worried I’m not doing the right subject, I’m scared of moving out and away from my family, and I’m scared of all the new people and the new places….ah so much!

But I’ve had quite a while to think about it now and even though I’m no less scared and no less indecisive about to go or not, I can sort of think about it without shivering with fear now. I think the important thing to remember is that nothing is set in stone, meaning you can always change your mind and there is no such thing as TOO LATE. If you think about it too much then you’ll just worry yourself into a state, make a decision and if it turns out to be the wrong one, change and do something else!

I think the reason I wanted to write this post, was partly to get my worries out of my head and secondly to share and tell everyone that may be going through the same worries that it’s okay to be worried and apprehensive about the future, it is scary! But as my mum is always saying it’s exciting too, we have so many opportunities and different paths we can take and we don’t have to decide all right now, even though that’s what we are being told by a lot of people.

So to summarise, if you’re in this situation, don’t panic, but I know you probably will, (because I am!) but it’s not the final curtain call, I’m down to do Criminal Psychology, but my life’s dream is to publish my novel, and I still intended to do that. And who know’s what will happen in the future, be positive, keep your head up and believe. Things will work out.

TV Obsessions…

Now you may be thinking, I recognise that blog post title and that’s because a while back I did a similar post on my Organisational Obsessions. Now I bring you a post on my favourite (to the point of obsessional!) TV series at the moment! Enjoy!

Firstly, an old favourite, it’s not on at the moment but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make it on the list because it’s just too good not to include and that programme is DOCTOR WHO! Woop!

Soon to be introducing the new Doctor played by Peter Capaldi (who is also in another programme I am loving at the moment!) and continuing with the doctors assistant Clara played by Jenna Coleman, I am so excited for the new series! I just love everything about Doctor Who, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what I love about it, perhaps the witty banter, the contrast between fun and jokes and devastatingly heart wrenching story lines. Ah, its just so good! Every Doctor they have chosen has been brilliant so I’m sure Peter will be epic as well!

Next is a series that I don’t watch anymore, but I loved it when I did watch it and I still re watch some of the old episodes on my DVD box sets I own of it and that programme is THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.

I love this image, so I had to include it! I loved watching this series and as far as I know it’s still on. I don’t know why I stopped watching it, but I’ve not watched it for so long, it’d be pretty hard to catch up.

I love the sexiness of this programme, if you’re into sexy vampire (but so not a twilight copy!) then you’d really like this! But as well as this it had some scenes that genuine made me cry, and scenes that made me laugh. A great watch!

Lastly, as I don’t want this post to be too long, my personal favourite TV series at the moment, a historical British drama, THE MUSKETEERS.

I am seriously genuinely in love with this series at the moment. It only started a few weeks ago, it’s fourth episode was last Sunday. It’s brilliant! It’s had mixed reviews oddly enough, but I am really enjoying, it’s ticking all my boxing at the moment. As well as some fair eye candy (who doesn’t enjoy that) it has some really funny moments, and real saddening moments. I love the whole romanticism and chivalrous nature of the Musketeers, but also the grittiness and the differences between them. I truly recommend you catching up on this series and tell me what you think!

So there you go, that’s what I’m digging at the moment, even though two of them I’m not actually watching at the moment! If you watch any of the series, drop me a comment, let me know what you think and any other series I might enjoy!

The Cafe On The Hill…

This was a short story I wrote for Bliss Magazine quite a long time ago now, I know it isn’t brilliant but there was quite a strict word limit and I haven’t changed it since I wrote it probably a year ago now, just thought it would be interesting to see how my writing has changed…

It was a long road, I could see that from the way it wound right into the horizon, add that to the steep incline and I really didn’t have a desire to reach this so called best café in north America. “Do we have to do this?” My best friend, Hannah slung the HUGE back pack onto her back, huffing slightly. “Yes we do! It’ll be fun, and anyway, it’s worth it just for the view!” Not waiting for an answer she set off up the hill. I sighed as I started to follow. A good two hours later, I saw Hannah stop and dump the back pack on the floor. She turned beckoning to me. I ran the last couple of metres and stopped stunned as I reached her. The view was amazing, hills ran for miles and miles, different colours weaved into the patchwork of fields and a light mist hung in the valley below. But no café. I turned to her, “You are joking? I’m starving Hannah!” She smiled mischievously, and just as I was about to floor her, she pointed to the huge back pack. “Did you not wonder what I could possibly be carrying in this?!” She said pointing to the bag. I watched suspiciously as she knelt down and produced a picnic hamper and blanket and a little sign. ‘The café on the hill’? I laughed, “You’re mad! And it’s not really a café, I haven’t paid for anything.” She set down the blanket, sat down and looked back up at me, “You can pay if you want.” I laughed, sitting down. I lay back and enjoyed the stunning landscape with my best friend in ‘The café on the hill’.

101 Days…

A little poem for a Thursday morning, enjoy 🙂

The first step you took out our door
It suddenly felt so cold, so raw.
I watched you go, I wished you well
Even though letting you go was hell.
I wait for your calls, a letter
Though seeing you myself would be much better.
I want to see you again, safe and sound
Because this loneliness has me bound.
It seems a lifetime away,
Since I saw you last May,
And till I see you again, 101 days away.

Lucy’s Latest Beauty Buys!

So here I am again and there’s a few things I would like to say before I dive into the beauty part of this post!

Firstly, this was going to be a video which  failed miserably, I tried to do it last night and ended up slamming my netbook lid down in frustration. So I have returned to favored way of delivering posts and that is simply writing! I may still do a video in future, but do it properly next time!

Secondly, I want to start posting in a more structured way, actually setting certain days when I am going to post. Obviously this is hard as I’m so busy it’s hard to say when I’ll have time to sit and write a post, however I will give it a go. To start with I’m just going to say I’ll aim to post at least once a week, but when is a different matter. 😉

Now, on to the fun part of the post, I’m sat her at home after trying to wade through rising flood waters and deciding there’s simply no point… So no I’m finally going to show you what I bought on my latest shopping trip! Yay! Hope you enjoy!

The first one isn’t exactly a beauty buy but I love it so much!

Short sleeved lace top by Indigo in Marks and Spencers
Short sleeved lace top by Indigo in Marks and Spencers

If anyone doesn’t know what Marks and Spencers is it’s basically a clothes shop, but it also has a food hall part and some home wear and makeup. I don’t usually like their stuff as its for the older woman, (my mum drags me in their every time we’re in town!) .

However they do do a section called Indigo that is very me. Much younger and a bit bohemian which I love, so this time my mum dragged me in I instantly saw this top and fell in love. I was horrified at the price tag though, at £32.50 I think it’s very expensive but it has got a lot of work in it.

Me wearing it, love it!
Me wearing it, love it!

It’s got little cap like sleeves,

And it buttons up at the back of the neck…

And this is the bottom…

Overall I am happy I bought this top, I know when I see something I really like and that I’m going to get a lot of wear out of, so I’m pleased with this purchase 🙂

Lolli Tint: Candy-orchid tinted lip and cheek stain. £24.50
Lolli Tint: Candy-orchid tinted lip and cheek stain. £24.50

I went into Debenhams in the mind set that I wanted to buy a Benefit product and this was the newest one out which I thought I’d give a try. I also love these lip and cheek stains, they really work and certainly stay put on your lips most of the day. I have Cha cha tint as well which is a mango tinted one, this one claims to be Candy-orchid which is much more of a pinky colour.

P1050659 This is what it looks like out of the box, cute right?! Like the ones before it it’s a little bottle, (but trust me, it lasts ages!) with a brush….

And this is the brush you get, I love these of my lips, I’m not 100% convinced about them on my cheeks, as you have to brush on a couple of strokes and then blend rather quickly before it dries. However I’ve found that even after doing that, sometimes you can still see the streak marks of where I’ve put it on.

This is what it looks like on my lips when its dried, what I like about these is you can leave them with a matt finish, or put a gloss on over the top. Also this shade is just natural enough for everyday where.

Next up we have another Benefit product!

This is another relatively new product, but as I suffer with both my pores and shine I thought it might work for me. This again is the second product is a kind of series. The one before was simply called The POREfessional and was a serum skin pimer for under makeup (this one is for over makeup), but I found it was a little too greasy for me and I didn’t really like the consistency, but it did help minimize the appearance of my pores.

This one is a powder and you simply brush it on over your make up or just over a mosturised face. From the few days I’ve had it, I’ve worn it everyday and am very pleased with the results. Its very light weight and not cakey or too dry.

The brush simply pops out the bottom.
The brush simply pops out the bottom.

The brush pops out the bottom of the product and then by unscrewing the top lid, you then twist the top and tap out a bit of the powder into the lid, dab the brush in, tap of the excess and ta-da!

It’s all self contained which is another thing I really like about this product.

Benefit it expensive but there products are worth it. I highly recommend both these.

Barry M Nail Paint in Peach Melba £2.99
Barry M Nail Paint in Peach Melba £2.99

I love nail polishes and I wanted to buy a specific barry M that I’d seen a few weeks ago, but I then spotted this one as well and I just adore Peachy colours so couldn’t resist! I have a Nails Inc colour on my nails already if you’re interested, the colour is Bennett Street and I love it, it’s a real post box red.

Second one was this one!

Matte Nail paint by Barry M in Caramel £2.99

This is the one I set out to buy, I love the colour and it’s a matte one which I quite like experimenting with too. I have a separate top coat by OPI that makes your nail polishes dry matt, but this one is all together which is good. So I will have to try these out, but they are super cute, the photo’s don’t do them justice!

Anyways, so I hope you enjoyed this post, if you have any of these products or have any opinions on them, feel free to leave a comment below, it really makes my day!

Have a good one and if your near floods, take care!
